PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) recorded oil and natural gas production of 956,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBOEPD) in the first quarter of 2026.
This represents oil production of 494 MBOPD and gas production of 2.75 billion cubic feet per day.
"Performance through March 2026 shows a positive trend, both in terms of production and the addition of resources and reserves," said Hermansyah Y Nasroen, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, as quoted from Pertamina Hulu Energi's official website, accessed from Jakarta on Tuesday.
In addition to stable production, performance in the first quarter of 2026 was also marked by increasing operational activity. From an operational perspective, exploitation drilling activity has reached 130 wells, demonstrating ongoing efforts to maintain production levels.
Furthermore, as part of the existing field production optimization strategy, workover activities have been carried out on 261 wells and well service on 6,124 wells.
In the exploration sector, eight exploration wells had been drilled as of March 2026. Seismic survey activities are also ongoing, with 0.09 km of 2D seismic surveys and 914 km² of 3D seismic surveys underway to support the discovery of potential new resources.
These exploration efforts resulted in the discovery of 6.7 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMBOE) of 2D resources. Meanwhile, there was also an increase in proven reserves (P1) of 3.4 MMBOE, a positive indicator for maintaining the sustainability of the national energy supply.
"We continue to encourage the optimization of existing fields while accelerating exploration activities to ensure long-term production sustainability," he said.
Furthermore, Hermansyah emphasized his commitment to maintaining performance momentum until the end of the year.
"We will continue to improve operational efficiency, strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, and utilize technology to support the achievement of production targets and the discovery of new reserves," he said.
This achievement reflects PHE's commitment to maintaining production performance while strengthening the foundation of future energy reserves.
Going forward, various optimization and exploration efforts will continue to be intensified to support national energy security.
