PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), part of the Gas Subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero), is ready to distribute natural gas to strategic sectors, such as refineries, fertilizer plants, and power plants, through the Batang-Cirebon-Kandang Haur Timur (Cisem II) Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline.

"The energy distributed through the Cisem pipeline meets the needs of industry and various other sectors for clean energy, also provides added value to the upstream oil and gas sector, and most importantly, supports Indonesia's economic growth," said Pertagas President Director Indra P. Sembiring.

In a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, he stated that Pertagas had been appointed as the operator of the Batang-Cirebon-Kandang Haur Timur Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline in April 2026, after winning a tender conducted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through Lemigas.

This pipe is part of the Cirebon-Semarang (Cisem) Transmission Pipeline, which in the previous stage was built and operational for the Semarang-Batang (Cisem I) section.

Indra stated that Pertagas has been operating the Cisem I Pipeline since 2023.

The Cisem II Pipeline, Indra added, is a National Strategic Project (PSN) that integrates natural gas pipeline infrastructure across Indonesia.

Natural gas wells located far from major gas consuming markets are now connected via the Cirebon-Semarang Transmission Pipeline and the Gresik-Semarang Transmission Pipeline.

"So, the approximately 242 km Cisem II Pipeline is a game changer because it connects to Pertagas' existing infrastructure in West Java, Central Java, and East Java, thereby strengthening the reliability of energy distribution across Java," Indra said.

Pertagas' Director of Engineering and Operations, Agung Indri Pramantyo, added that the Cisem II Pipeline network is currently integrated with the Cisem I Pipeline Section in the Batang Industrial Area (KITB) in Central Java, which is operated by Pertagas, and the Kandang Haur Timur Station (KHT), Pertagas' West Java Operation Area.

"This integration forms an integrated pipeline network system and provides operational flexibility and reliability for natural gas infrastructure, particularly for the ones we operate," said Agung.

He added that the integration of the Cisem II Pipeline with the national natural gas transmission infrastructure not only strengthens energy supply for strategic sectors but also supports the government's program to develop gas for households and micro, small, and medium enterprises along the pipeline route.

This effort is expected to expand energy access and strengthen national energy security.

As an energy infrastructure company, Pertagas continues to play an active role in supporting the national natural gas transmission infrastructure integration program to boost domestic industrial growth and stimulate national economic growth.

Pertagas is committed to continuously strengthening the optimization of natural gas use as a clean and reliable energy source in Indonesia's energy transition. Pertagas also supports President Prabowo Subianto's Astacita target of achieving energy self-sufficiency in Indonesia.
