Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas regulator, SKK Migas, plans to bring eight upstream oil and gas projects onstream in 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen national energy supply and address declining production. The projects span several working areas and include both the development of existing fields and upgrades to oil, gas, and condensate production capacity. The total capital expenditure allocated for these projects is estimated at US$478 million.

Several oil projects are being developed by companies within the Pertamina Group. Among them are the Sedingin North-1 field in the Pertamina Hulu Rokan working area, targeted to start operations in the fourth quarter of 2026 with a capacity of 325 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), and the Polymer Minas Area D project scheduled to come onstream in the second quarter of 2026 with a capacity of 1,212 BOPD. In addition, Pertamina EP is developing the Upgrading Puspa Asriproject, which is expected to begin production in the fourth quarter of 2026 with a capacity of approximately 1,034 BOPD.

On the gas and condensate side, several projects are also set to commence operations in 2026, including Senoro Selatan Phase II, OO-OX, NSD Plant Bentu, Suban Compressor Clustering, and Sisi Nubi Phase II. Overall, these projects are expected to add around 214 MMSCFD of gas and 8,200 barrels of oil per day to Indonesia’s production. The additional output is anticipated to strengthen the country’s energy resilience while helping slow the long-standing decline in national upstream oil and gas production.
