IGS Audience to MPR-RI "Forum Diskusi Bisnis Gas Di Indonesia"

30 January 2025

The Indonesian Gas Society (IGS) was invited by the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) to participate in a strategic discussion on Indonesia’s gas business, focusing on policy implications amid the national energy transition. In the forum, IGS reaffirmed the critical role of gas as a transition fuel through the lens of the energy trilemma: ensuring supply reliability, reducing emissions intensity, and maintaining energy affordability for industry and power generation.

IGS specifically highlighted long-term supply risks stemming from natural field decline, pricing policies that constrain upstream investment, and regulatory fragmentation that hampers gas infrastructure development. Through this policy dialogue, IGS advocated for an integrated approach linking supply, demand, and infrastructure, alongside more bankable and investment-friendly policies to ensure gas continues to support economic growth while advancing Indonesia’s decarbonization agenda.
