The Business Process & Project Economics for Upstream Gas course being held at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Seminyak Resort, Bali, from 10 to 11 November 2025. This comprehensive two-day program is designed for professionals in the oil and gas industry—including engineers, economists, business development analysts, and project managers—seeking to master the end-to-end business processes of upstream gas exploration, development, and production. The curriculum focuses on equipping participants with critical economic modeling, valuation skills, fiscal regime analysis, and risk assessment techniques essential for driving profitable decisions in dynamic upstream projects.
The course is facilitated by Aris Mulya Azof, the Chairman of the Indonesian Gas Society (IGS), who brings over 29 years of extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. His expertise spans corporate finance, strategic business development, and executive leadership across upstream, refinery, and gas/LNG sectors, including significant roles at PT Pertamina (Persero) and as CEO of PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama.
Day 1 focuses on the fundamentals and operational aspects of the industry. It begins with an introduction to the Upstream Gas Industry, covering the global energy landscape, value chain, and governance. Participants will delve into technical modules on Exploration (geology, drilling), Exploitation (reservoir engineering), and Gas Production & Operations(field management, optimization). The day concludes with sessions on Commercial and Development strategies, including gas commercialization and infrastructure, as well as an overview of Upstream Oil and Gas Contracts like PSCs and Gross Split.


Day 2 shifts to economic evaluation and strategic decision-making. It starts with Fiscal Regimes & LNG Business Extension, analyzing fiscal terms of PSCs and Gross Split contracts. The core of the day is dedicated to Project Economics & Valuation, teaching concepts like NPV, IRR, and discounted cash flow. This is followed by practical sessions on Economic Modeling & Sensitivity Analysis, where attendees will build spreadsheet models and perform scenario planning. The course wraps up with real-world Case Studies on integrated LNG and merchant models to reinforce learning.
