NuEnergy Gas Limited (ASX: NGY) signed a strategic collaboration with China-linked partner PT Beijing Energy Linking (PT BEL) to fast-track coalbed methane (CBM) development in South Sumatra, positioning the deal as a milestone for Indonesia’s non-conventional gas industry. The signing ceremony took place on January 8, 2026 in Jakarta and was witnessed by SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto, signaling strong regulator support and renewed investment momentum for CBM.

The partnership is centered on accelerating work in PSC/WK Tanjung Enim, described as Indonesia’s first CBM project with an approved POD 1. The article also highlights the depth of PT BEL’s backing, noting it is linked to Shanghai Beijing Energy Linking New Energy Development Co. Ltd and supported by major shareholders including Beijing Energy International Holding and Envision Group.

Commercially, the move builds on an earlier step: on December 17, 2025, NuEnergy’s subsidiary Dart Energy (Tanjung Enim) signed a gas sales and purchase agreement (PJBG) with PGN, and the overall initiative is projected to carry an initial contract value of about US$200 million. NuEnergy targets plateau production up to 25 MMSCFD for 10 years, with first gas sales of 1 MMSCFD planned in the first half of 2026, delivered via South Sumatra’s integrated gas network to domestic markets (including Java) and potentially onward to regional export destinations such as Singapore and Malaysia.
