61st Anniversary, PGN strengthens resilience and infrastructure for energy security

PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN), as the gas subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero), continues to strengthen the resilience of its natural gas business and infrastructure for national energy security as it enters its 61st anniversary on May 13, 2026.

PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, stated that the company continues to strengthen its role as the backbone of the national natural gas infrastructure by strengthening supply, developing LNG, and expanding low-emission energy networks.

PGN also continues to maintain business resilience to ensure independent and sustainable energy availability amidst global energy dynamics.

"For 61 years, PGN has continuously transformed to ensure natural gas is always available to the public through supply diversification, infrastructure strengthening, service innovation, and a commitment to implementing ESG aspects," she said.

Over the past year, PGN has taken various strategic steps to consistently maintain service reliability and national energy security.

The company is actively securing domestic pipeline gas and LNG supplies from various sources, such as Tangguh and Donggi Senoro, and is exploring new supply potential from the Masela Block, Andaman Block, Tungkal Block, coalbed methane (CBM) development in Muara Enim, and biomethane as part of future energy development.

Fajriyah continued, explaining that supply strengthening is also being realized through various strategic agreements, including the signing of several gas sale and purchase agreements (GSA) within the Convex 2025 IPA, the West Natuna gas swap cooperation, and the Masela Block LNG HOA with INPEX Masela.

The use of LNG to support supply security is also increasing.

PGN received additional domestic LNG supplies and, for the first time, received LNG cargoes through the West Java FSRU.

PGN has also completed the revitalization of the 127,000 m3 Arun F-6004 LNG Tank, which is ready to operate to serve the Southeast Asian and South Asian markets in line with the development of its LNG hub business.

Operational-wise, PGN's natural gas distribution volume reached 777 BBTUD, with a gas transmission volume of 1,539 MMSCFD as of the first quarter of 2026.

Gas distribution management is optimally managed with a primary focus on maintaining the sustainability of customer operations amidst the challenges of national and global economic dynamics.

PGN also continues to strengthen its position as the manager of more than 95 percent of the national natural gas infrastructure and is adding 230 kilometers of new pipelines to expand access to natural gas energy across Indonesia.

Infrastructure development is also strengthened through various strategic collaborations with national and international business partners.

Currently, with a 91 percent market share, PGN's operational area covers 18 provinces and 78 cities/regencies and is supported by a 33,490 km national natural gas pipeline network.

"PGN also continues to expand its beyond-pipeline services by utilizing retail CNG as an energy solution for communities not yet served by natural gas pipelines. CNG service expansion is being carried out in various regions, including Medan through the construction of CNG mother stations and Bandung, to meet the energy needs of the industrial, commercial, and MSME sectors, as well as hotels, restaurants, and cafes," explained Fajriyah.

Natural gas utilization is also expanding to reach the household sector, now reaching more than 820,000 house connections (SR).

PGN is also expanding its gas network to modern residential areas, including the Wisma Atlet Kemayoran flats, and exploring new areas such as Jatengland and BSB City.

Furthermore, PGN was also among the 50 public companies with the best governance practices in ASEAN and among the top 5 in Indonesia in the 2025 ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards.

PGN was also included in TIME Magazine's list of the 500 Best Companies in Asia-Pacific.

As part of its corporate social contribution, PGN continues to present community empowerment and energy education programs through the Nusantara Gas Park, City Gas Tour 2025, Suadesa Festival, and a biosaline rice food security program in the coastal area of ​​Jepara.
