PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), Pertamina's gas subholding, has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the expansion of the household natural gas network (jargas) across Indonesia. This program is positioned as part of efforts to strengthen national energy security while expanding public access to cleaner and more efficient energy.

To accelerate the achievement of this target, PGN is opening up collaboration opportunities with various parties, including government agencies, housing developers, real estate developers, and the private sector. This partnership scheme is designed to be mutually beneficial while encouraging the development of sustainable natural gas infrastructure.

PGN's Commercial Director, Aldiansyah Idham, assessed that the massive development of the jargas network has a strategic impact on the national economy. According to him, the development of the household gas network is one of PGN's concrete contributions to curbing the growth of energy imports. This step also helps the government improve the oil and gas current account deficit. He emphasized that partnerships play a crucial role in strengthening the jargas development strategy in various regions.

Currently, PGN serves more than 821,000 household connections (SR) and has extensive experience in constructing over 19,000 kilometers of gas pipelines across Indonesia. Nevertheless, PGN recognizes that natural gas infrastructure development requires cross-sector synergy. Therefore, strategic collaboration is continuously being encouraged to accelerate the development of the national gas network.

One concrete step taken is exploring cooperation in developing gas networks in property projects owned by members of the Indonesian Real Estate Association (REI). This collaboration marks an agreement between PGN and the REI Housing Association Central Executive Board (DPP REI) to encourage the use of natural gas in the housing and real estate sectors.

PGN and REI are committed to carrying out this collaboration in accordance with laws and regulations and the principles of good corporate governance. "This collaboration is strategically valuable because REI has an extensive member network, which presents a significant opportunity to expand the use of gas networks and other potential collaborations," said Aldi.

With its technical competence and resources, PGN is ready to support REI from the design, construction, operation, distribution, and maintenance stages of the household gas network. This support is expected to expand the use of natural gas in residential areas in a more integrated manner.

"We continue to move forward to ensure the public has access to sustainable energy. Jargas is a concrete form of our wholehearted service in providing cleaner, safer, and more affordable energy to the community. This commitment aligns with the national energy security mission through the utilization of domestic gas sources," Aldi concluded.
